Carpal tunnel syndrome is caused by pressure on the median nerve. This nerve runs through the wrist and up into your hand. The Carpal Tunnel is a narrow passageway, surrounded by bone and ligaments on the palmar aspect of your hand. When this median nerve is compressed, symptoms may include pain, numbness, tingling or weakness in the hand, wrist and arm.
